Facts & Figures

Lake Towada is the central point of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park within the Aomori Prefecture. The largest crater lake (with two peninsulas) on the main island Honshu is 327m deep, has a circumference of 52km and covers an area of 61.1 square kilometre. Lake Towada is ranked as the 12th largest lake in Japan and is very famous for its deep blue color. The whole area around the lake is a very popular destination for hiking, camping, water sports and a must-see especially during the Indian Summer (autumn season) of Northern Japan.
