You will find there Tokyo's tallest buildings (skyscraper district) and with Shinjuku Station the world's busiest railway station (3.64 million passengers/day). Shinjuku is an administrative and commercial centre. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is located in this ward. Shinjuku Gyoen, one of the most beautiful parks in Tokyo, is a must-see especially during the cherry blossom season (hanami).

History
Two events in the past had an huge influence on the development of Shinjuku in its current form. The Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 and the bombings of World War 2.
