Traditional Machiya House
My 100 Best Moments in Japan - 99/100gion district
"The Gion district is a very old part of Kyoto and full of traditional machiya houses. Many of those wooden townhouses are over 100 years old. Some of them are turned into guesthouses and I recommend everyone to stay at least one or two nights at such a place. I enjoyed the fascinating architecture, amazing service culture, and friendly atmosphere during my stay."
