Sake Barrels Meiji Shrine
My 100 Best Moments in Japan - 38/100wall of barrels
"I saw this impressive display of sake barrels (kazaridaru) at the entrance of the Meiji Shrine in Shibuya, Tokyo. I found out that this is a story of give and take. Rice wine brewers from all over the country making these donations and the priest is asking a deity for their prosperity. On the other hand, sake is needed for the shrine's rituals and festivals. It is a great symbiotic relationship that leads to this sake barrel monument:)"
