Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka
My 100 Best Moments in Japan - 45/100old tower
"I discovered this 103m tall tower in the Shinsekai area in Osaka. This neighbourhood in the southern part of Osaka was one of the most unique places I have ever visited in Japan. The place feels old, retro, run-down, colorful, fascinating, and everything in between. Shinsekai was developed during the Showa period (1926 - 1989) and it was never really modernized during all these years. The contrast to the posh areas in Osaka could not have been bigger."
