Mount Shosha
My 100 Best Moments in Japan - 20/100what a view
"After I explored the Himeji Castle I decided to visit the over 1000 years old Engyo-ji Temple on top of Mount Shosha. The panoramic view alone was worth to come here. The mountain top is btw easily accessible by a ropeway. Mount Shosha is also very popular for another reason. In 2003 actor Tom Cruise shot parts of his movie - The Last Samurai - here and therefore it is now a big tourist magnet. A special thank you goes also out to the Japanese couple, who offered me a free ride in their car to the foot of the mountain after they saw me walking along a street in Himeji."
